FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is ticket purchase in advance required for the tour?
Yes, advance ticket purchase is required. The tour typically sells out quickly. To maximize your chances of getting the date, and number of tickets you prefer, please book well in advance.

If either of the Culinary/Cultural Tours’ are sold out, can I get on a waiting list?
At this time we do not provide a waiting list. There may be some situations where we can accommodate or add on a few more to the tour. Please click the Contact link at the top of the page to request additional tickets by filling out the Contact Form.

Can I get a refund or reschedule my tickets?
Once purchased, tickets cannot be refunded or rescheduled because your space is being guaranteed on the event. Our events often sell out. No partial credits or rescheduling is allowed for partial attendance, no shows, or late arrivals. It is your responsibility to show up at the right location, on time. The tours begin promptly.

What happens if there is bad weather the day of the tour?
Taste of Kansas City Food Tours will proceed with its tours regardless of rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, we will be able to go inside many of the establishments on the tour. We will not be outdoors for the entire 3 hours. You should still dress appropriately for the day’s weather conditions. It is impossible to cancel a tour at the very last minute due to mother nature’s temperament. Before purchasing tickets please be aware of the possible weather conditions for that time of year and always dress appropriately.

Is there parking available in the area & where will the tour end?
There is an abundance of free and metered on-street parking and small lots throughout the area. Cost of parking in a lot is $5 for the day. Our final tasting is about a 15 minute walk from the starting location.

Is the tour appropriate for children?
Children are more than welcome, but please bear in mind that some children have a limited attention span and therefore a 3 hour walking tour may not be appropriate for them. Parents know their children best and should assess the situation individually. Since there is a lot of standing, walking, please consider this when deciding whether the tour is appropriate for your child. If your child is 2 years of age or younger and will not be eating, you will not need to purchase a ticket for him/her. If your child is 3 years of age or older, you will need to purchase a reduced-price child ticket for him/her, regardless if he/she will be eating.

How should I dress for a tour?
Please dress casual, comfortable, and appropriate for the different seasons in Kansas City. Always check with the local weather conditions the day of the tour to be prepared. Well soled walking shoes are also recommended.

How much food is served on the food tour?
Taste of Kansas City Food Tours serve enough food that for most participants, lunch afterwards or breakfast before will not be necessary. With the mix of drink and food tastings combined with our short stops outside of historical landmarks and the sharing of inside knowledge, most participants are comfortably full after our food tours. Please understand our food tours are not intended to replace breakfast and lunch combined, so please consider eating a light breakfast before the tour.

Will there be alcohol tastings on this tour?
We do have a couple of stops on our tour that do include alcohol tastings. For guests of legal drinking age who would like to participate in these tastings, please be sure to have a valid ID. For those without ID or under the age of 21, substitute tastings will be made available.

What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?
At this time we CAN accommodate food substitutions for vegetarians on our tour but we CANNOT make food substitutions for any other food allergies (such as gluten-free or dairy-free). We are sorry for the inconvenience. Our Food Tour has been designed to highlight the best and most unique aspects of each establishment. Please keep in mind that a big component of our tour is sampling various foods. Our chefs have carefully thought out their presentations to you and feel that what they present best represents their story. Since we have your health (and palate!) in mind, we truly appreciate your understanding on this issue.

How much walking is there on the tour?
Our Crossroads Culinary & Cultural Tour is our only walking tour available at this time and covers a little over a mile in distance. Please also note that our tours do not begin and end in the same location.  Our final stop is about a 15 minute walk from the start and we recommend parking somewhere in the middle.  We will during this time have short stops of sitting breaks.
We also offer additional tours that take place on our 14 passenger mini-bus that involves minimal walking.

Is it possible to bring wheelchairs or strollers on the tour? Using wheelchairs or strollers during the tour will be extremely challenging. Please click the Contact link at the top of the page to request more detailed information about handicap accessibility.

Will there be time to shop during the tour?
We ask that you please wait to shop until after the tour is completed so that we can stay on our food-tasting schedule and continue with our tour and food tastings in a timely manner. We realize there may be a couple of locations you would like to purchase items so we ask you allow time at the end of the tour to return to your favorite locations. The tours are on a schedule to arrive at each tasting location so its important to stay on schedule so the food is given fresh and at proper temperature for each stop.
